More than 42 years ago, a small group of brave gay Christians opened our doors to worship together. It was an era when gathering in public as gay Christians could mean risking your lives, as 32 New Orleans MCC members died in an arson set during a fundraiser in 1973.
How times have changed. GLBTIQ rights have advanced beyond what many original MCC members could imagine. And yet our church still exists, and is needed more now.
Emerald City MCC continues to worship together because we preach, teach and practice an unconditional inclusivity and desire for radical change not found elsewhere. Even here in Seattle, where many churches "affirm" gay people as their members, it's still not easy sharing your ENTIRE life with a congregation. Here at MCC, we welcome ALL of you!
Welcoming Our New Pastor!
A new era has begun with the arrival of our new pastor. Reverend Brian Hutchinson began serving as permanent Senior Pastor of Emerald City MCC in June 2015. Learn more about Brian.
